Two families displaced, two pets killed in Orange Fire

ORANGE, Mass. (WWLP) – Late Monday afternoon, the Orange Fire Department was called to a three-alarm structure fire at a multi-family home on Jones Street.

According to Orange Fire Chief James Young, around 4:05 p.m., crews were dispatched to 15 Jones Street, where the fire started on the first floor and spread to the second floor. A resident who was present during the incident was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The fire was successfully brought under control by around 6:14 p.m.

Two dogs were saved during the rescue efforts while two others unfortunately got caught in the fire. The cause and extent of the damage is not known at this time. The Orange Fire Department is actively investigating the incident, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
