The CityPlace Marriott is hosting a spectacular fundraiser for Operation Pets Alive.

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Tongues were wagging recently at the Houston CityPlace Marriott’s holiday happy hour fundraiser to benefit local rescue group Operation Pets Alive.

The inaugural ‘Christmas Tale,’ a gingerbread dog house contest and auction, drew dozens of supporters to the festively decorated lobby, where Kandikakes Bakery, Lucky Dog Mobile Groomers, and Jessica Courtney with Operation Mar Pett Alive, &S Pets Alive, Believing and edible submissions were presented. as well as City Place’s Common Bond Bistro & Bakery, Star Cinema Grill, Switch House Plates & Pours, and Oiler Studio. All seven were quickly snapped up by bidders eager to bring them home.

In addition to Operation Pets Alive, the big winner of the evening was Candace Douglas, a locally based pastry chef and owner of Condiquex Bakery, who not only took home the judges’ and people’s choice awards, but also won an incredible raffle package. Common Bond’s Doggy Chalet and Star Cinema Girl’s Barbie-inspired Doggy Dream House were close runners-up.

The event continues a series of events celebrating the hotel’s fifth anniversary, and guests toasted to glasses of milk with ginger mimosas, The Naughty and Nice, and cookies.
