Marinette Firefighter gets a hero’s welcome by burning up trying to save pets.

MARINETTE, Wis. (WFRV) – A Marinette firefighter who was injured trying to save several pets during a house fire has been given a hero’s welcome back.

Jason Lemire was a firefighter who had to be transferred to St. Mary’s in Milwaukee due to injuries sustained during the incident.

Officials say Lemire was trying to rescue pets still trapped inside the home when he suffered burns from the flashover, an otherwise sweltering space on fire. Known as an example of rapid expansion.

City of Peshtigo Fire Department posted a video on his Facebook page of a full bodyguard of fire trucks welcoming Lemire back home.

“We are glad you are back home with your family and friends,” officials said on the City of Peshtego Fire Department’s Facebook page.

Several community members also commented on the post welcoming Lemire.

“What a wonderful community we live in,” said Brandi S. Glad you got home safely.
