Grace loves attention. Hank is a lucky man.

JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.

Here are two of them.

Hank is a 2-year-old prospective Labrador/Staffordshire mix who came in as a stray. He is solid black with white markings.

Hank is house trained and gets along with cats and other dogs. He is cheerful and wags his tail when welcoming guests. Hank has big brown eyes and is ready to join you for Christmas.

Grace is a beautiful solid gray shorthair cat who is also 2 years old. She is on the small side, weighing only seven pounds when she came in as a stray.

Although she is a little afraid of new sights and sounds at the shelter, she will come to greet you. Grace loves pets and is a fan of kitty treats. Her big golden eyes are wonderful and full of expression.

Adopting a dog requires an online application. A meet and greet with the dog is also a must. A walkthrough of the cat’s room is available to test reactions. Dog adoption fees are $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchips and sterilization.

Cat adoption fee is $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccinations and spay/neuter.

Visiting the shelter is always best, but other adoption resources include online applications. https://www.co.jackson.mi.us/2302/Our-Adoptable-Animalsfaxing or emailing 517-780-4750 animalshelter@mijackson.org.

Current shelter hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 4:30pm, Thursday from 10am to 7pm and Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
