Editorial: Pet owners, take note this month.

It’s that time of year when we remind the public to please renew your dog tags for your pets.
Not only are they responsible, they are legally required in the state of Ohio.
The sale of tags started on December 1 and will continue until January 31.
Tags can be picked up at the Lawrence County Animal Shelter and the Lawrence County Auditor’s Office, located in the county courthouse, at Dickey’s Market in Kitts Hill or at South Pointe Storage, near the village roundabout at the Solida Road interchange on US 52. It is located very close. (Look for the giant concrete elephant outside).
They are also available online at https://www.doglicenses.us/OH/Lawrence.
According to Shelter’s Dave Biscoe, those who buy tags have three options:
Standard tags are $16.
• If a person brings documentation that their pet has been spayed or neutered, it costs $12.
• If the pet is a hunting dog and the owner brings a hunting license, the cost is $12,
We encourage those purchasing tags to do so this month. Not only does this speed up the process, but the fee doubles after the sale ends in January.
