DVIDS – News – CFAY Welcome Aboard: NAVFAC Provides Pet Transport Guidance

Narita and Haneda Airports

If you have any pets, you will need to find a way to take them with you when you enter Japan. Pets are not allowed on the CFAY airport shuttle, but there is a list of commercial options to choose from. However, there is a new directive that comes into effect from 1 January 2024. It states that if you want pet transportation from Narita or Haneda airports, you must request at least 30 days in advance. Then complete the list of requirements. You must already have a denial request from NEX. You pay out of pocket, which is $425.87 for Haneda and $488.31 for Narita. It is also recommended that you do this 6 weeks in advance, as it should be 4 weeks after your travel start date. If you need more details, you can go to M-FE-NAVFAC-PRY331D-RQ@us.navy.mil. Also, if you want to contact NEX Transportation you can call DSN 243-4511 or +81-046-816-4511.

Yokota Air Base

You can take your pet from Yokota Airport on the Patriot Express, free of charge. However, there are conditions for this. Within 2 business days, you must submit a new application form to the Department of Transportation with the number of passengers, number of bags, number of pets, what type of pet, and size and number of crates. You can carry multiple pets in a vehicle if they fit, but one person must still ride in the vehicle with the pet.
If you are unable to board the Patriot Express you will pay the same amount as if you were transporting your pet from Haneda/Narita Airports, which also have specific requirements. You are able to go on Patriot Express in CFAYINST 11240.3G or not.
