Driftless Humane Society Pet of the Week

Our special “Pay It Forward” promotion runs through the end of December.

Last week you met four of our wonderful cats, so this week we’d like to introduce you to four curious canines. Adoption fees for all these beautiful pooches are generously sponsored. Thyme, Sage, Hermes and Rocket are waiting for the right family to fulfill all their holiday wishes.

Photos are in the Viroqua Library! Visit throughout December to see some of the DHS alumni animals that have found their forever homes. Photographer Drew Shonka captured the essence of our animals in a collection called “Finding Home” to show how homelessness takes many shapes and sizes.

Sage and thyme

Dad

Sage and Thiem are beautiful sisters, one with floppy ears and the other straight! They are both a bit shy but love humans. He is about 8 months old and was found as a stray in Texas. These girls are lucky and think toys are so much fun! Sage’s demeanor is calmer than its bouncy sister theme. They are too old to learn house manners and have a life of adventure with you!

Hermes

Pet of the Week: Hermes

Hermes

Hermes came to us as an owner surrender because he needed more attention and exercise than he was able to give. He is a 5 year old Pyrenees, Maremma and Beagle cross. He weighs about 70 pounds but could stand to lose a bit of weight. Hermes are house trained, very affectionate, great with cats and good with dogs in small groups. Hermes need a large area to enjoy their freedom and will enjoy working. Hermes knows how to sit, lie down, stay and move. He enjoys remedial training and has so much more to learn. He has the softest eyes and he just wants to be loved!

The rocket

Pet of the week: Rocket

The rocket

Rocket has been returned to us for not getting on well with chickens and cats. He is doing well on house training. Rocket is very cute and looking for his person. Rocket is very playful and likes to chase his ball. He is an active pup who will need a home with someone who likes to be busy. Rocket just turned 6 months old and is a great age to learn how to be a wonderful companion!
