This weekend, after much begging and pleading and handshakes and letters and promises to be responsible, Anton finally convinced me to let him pet…
Allow me to introduce you to Buttercup! She is a Syrian hamster and is very cute. We met him on Friday evening. On the way home from the pet store, she was whispering nervously. Anton looked like he was going to cry too, so I told him, “As a parent, it’s really hard to see your child in pain. But you’ve come to learn that they can handle it.” And Anton held the box. Leaning over, he whispered, “It’s okay, it’s hard. You are a strong girl.” SOBBBBBB
He and his friends prepared a list of names. (My favorite was Uncle Larry.)
We managed to get him a huge aquarium with lots of wooden chews and toys and wheels and hiding places. She likes to organize her house and make big lungful places to sleep and flash her cute face. Our little diva! At bedtime last night, Anton told me, “Buttercup is my #1 priority.”
Also, a few more photos from this weekend…
